Data collected on students at our reading center who received Sound Start Literacy instruction in 2023-2025:
Number of Students (ages 6-11): 29 students
Average hours of instruction from pre to post assessment: 17 hours
Average Standard Score Increase in Word Reading: + 12 points
Average Standard Score Increase in Phonic Decoding: + 14 points
Assessments used: TOWRE 2 and Woodcock Reading Mastery Test
Increase in Oral Reading Fluency DIBELS: + 26 WCPM
We will continue collecting data and update again in 2026.
